Max’s Path to Financial Aid Excellence

At Financial Aid Services (FAS) and Genesis Software, we are known for our industry expertise with decades worth of experience. But how did our experts first begin their journey in the world of Higher Education and Financial Aid?

This month we are hearing from Max Daly, who is a Direct Loan Specialist here at FAS. Read on to learn more about how his journey into Financial Aid, and at FAS, first began.

I’ve been working at FAS for almost four years now. I originally started with FAS during my final year of college at Southern New Hampshire University, where I majored in business management. After the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, I transitioned to finishing my last year of school fully online, as all in-person classes had been canceled. This change allowed me to have some more free time, and I was able to search for a part-time job. During that time, my mom, Ronda, who has worked at FAS for as long as I can remember, mentioned that FAS was looking for help in the reconciliation department. I jumped on this opportunity; little did I know that it would turn into a full-time position.

Accepting a part-time position in Reconciliation, I gained valuable insights into the financial aid process and the diverse services FAS provides to clients. After spending some time learning while working in Reconciliation, I eventually transitioned to the Verification team. I continued working part-time with Verification up until my graduation from Southern New Hampshire University in November of 2022 when I was brought on as a full-time member of the Verification team. I stayed as a full-time member of the Verification team for almost a year and a half. During this time, I learned much more than I ever thought I would about the financial aid process.

In the past year, I’ve had a blast being able to attend both the NACCAS Conference in Austin, TX, and the SASFAA Conference in Orlando with my mom and David, and I’m looking forward to attending more in the future. Most recently, at the beginning of 2024, I began transitioning to the Direct Loan team. So far, I have learned a ton about loan certification and the different processes the Direct Loan team handles. I can’t wait to see what the future holds as I continue my financial aid journey!
