Lake Life In New Hampshire

By: Brianna Gualco

Every year my sister and I plan a summer beach trip. Due to COVID, we missed it last year. We missed it the year before too because sis purchased a house and was very busy moving in. We couldn’t let another year go by missing our tradition however this year we decided to try a new town, a new beach, and different waters.

In the past we’d make our way over to Wallis Sands State Park in Rye, NH (we’d walk over the stone wall onto the private beach because there is more room to sit…shhhh). This time we decided to hit the lake life, which turned out to be the best decision we made! If anyone has been to Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH they will understand the love I am about to share.

First off, forget the pins and needles from the frigid ocean water – New Found Lake is around 10 degrees higher. Next, let’s talk amenities. We went to Wellington State Park and wow the features this place had to offer was awesome. We’re talking boat ramp, changing rooms, bathrooms, charcoal grills, picnic tables and a playground for kids! I love the warm sun hitting my skin, but I can only take so much until I start to look like a lobster.

Speaking of lobster, after the beach we went to The Big Catch, their fried haddock was the best I’ve had. The breading was perfectly thin and flaky while the french fries were crispy with every bite. Enjoying a great meal while looking out onto the beautiful water was complete bliss.

Fun fact, Newfound Lake is considered one of the cleanest lakes in the world! The water is so clean and clear that you can see your toes while swimming in the water. It is also one of the deepest lakes in New Hampshire at about seven miles in length. This beach will become a new family favorite summer hangout.

When was the last time you truly unplugged from the world around you, put your toes in the sand and took in the wonders of nature?
